Visit Vancouver: Bookstores

Hey everyone!

Today I have a slightly different blog post for you all! I was out today with my friend and we went to Vancouver to shop and visit bookstores. I found so many different bookstores that I’d never heard about, and all of them sold used books, which was incredible for my wallet!

I don’t know about you, but I love just being in a bookstore and enjoying the environment. I can just empty my mind and look at some amazing novels, it’s such a calming atmosphere filled with book lovers!

If you live close to Vancouver, or are planning on visiting any time soon, definitely check all of these beautiful bookstores out!

This bookstore was one of the last bookstores that I visited, but it was one of my favourites. This bookstore is a very small and intimate store but it contains some of the most beautiful editions of novels that I’ve ever seen. They claim to “favour the classic, curious, odd, beautiful, visually arresting, scholarly, bizarre, and whimsical” books, and I totally agree.

I have to admit that the way that the books are arranged is a bit odd to get accustomed to at first, but once you get used to it, you really appreciate the way the genres are arranged, very artsy!

Tanglewood Books

This bookshop was one that had a great mix of recent bestsellers, used books and rare special edition novels. It was also not a huge store, but I found that it contained everything and anything you need. This store was also one of my favourite to visit because it was so isolated and quiet, so you can definitely take your time browsing the shelves and finding the perfect book.

This bookstore is also right next to a beautiful coffeeshop, so you can mix the two activities together and have the perfect bookish day.

Also, exciting city tip, there is a park behind the shop with FREE PARKING. This is an incredible find for Vancouver, so take advantage of it! Just be aware that the parking is only for 2 hours, so don’t get to enthralled in your novel because you may have a parking ticket awaiting you.

This has to be one of the most iconic bookstores in Vancouver and was one of the bookstores that I most wanted to visit. This was one of the biggest stores that we visited and contained a mixture of new and used novels. This was also one of the busiest bookstores that we visited, but since the space was so large, you could still take your time browsing, so that was great.

This store is said to have a high turnover rate and if you visit a week later you may find that there are loads of books that you may not have seen previously. This is definitely true because whilst there we could see boxes and boxes of books that had yet to be placed on shelves.

I was definitely overwhelmed in this bookstore, but once I found my Sci-Fi and Fantasy section I felt right at home. I was able to see quite a few novels that I was excited about and the prices were not bad at all. Just be aware that if the book is new the price will be what the book sells for new, obviously.

Unfortunately, I live nowhere near Vancouver, but these book stores look amazing! I particularly love used book stores, and I’m so glad you had a fun day exploring!
