Todays post is going to be a review for the novel Sleeping Giants! This novel is one that I’ve been meaning to read for quite a while, and when I saw it was available as an audiobook through my library I decided to just take the plunge!
Let’s get into the review!
Goodreads Rating: 3.84/5
Pages: 320 Pages
Published: April 26, 2016
Publisher: Del Rey
Genre: Science Fiction and Fantasy
A girl named Rose is riding her new bike near her home in Deadwood, South Dakota, when she falls through the earth. She wakes up at the bottom of a square hole, its walls glowing with intricate carvings. But the firemen who come to save her peer down upon something even stranger: a little girl in the palm of a giant metal hand.
Seventeen years later, the mystery of the bizarre artifact remains unsolved—its origins, architects, and purpose unknown. Its carbon dating defies belief; military reports are redacted; theories are floated, then rejected.
But some can never stop searching for answers.
Rose Franklin is now a highly trained physicist leading a top secret team to crack the hand’s code. And along with her colleagues, she is being interviewed by a nameless interrogator whose power and purview are as enigmatic as the provenance of the relic. What’s clear is that Rose and her compatriots are on the edge of unraveling history’s most perplexing discovery—and figuring out what it portends for humanity. But once the pieces of the puzzle are in place, will the result prove to be an instrument of lasting peace or a weapon of mass destruction?
⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
This novel was one that I honestly didn’t remember much about when I actually started reading it. I knew it was about robots and aliens and stuff, but I was pleasantly surprised with how it actually turned out.
Listening to the audiobook of this novel was an incredible experience. This audiobook was a full cast audiobook that made the experience so amazing.
I was not expecting this novel to be composed of interviews and only interviews, but this was something that I found was perfect for this novel. The interviews made all the information that was being told all the more interesting.
Hearing a different voice and accent for each character made my love for all the characters grow so immensely. I felt like they each had their own personality shine through their words so much more when they had different voices.
The only issue I have with listening to the audiobook of this novel is the fact that every minute of this novel is filled with so much information, so if you happen to zone out at all, you miss so much.
The plot of this novel was very unique, it’s like nothing I’ve read before. I was shocked again and again about what was going on, there were so many twists and turns that happened throughout this novel and they were turns that I personally never could have anticipated.
All in all, I think if you’re interested in reading this novel, you should definitely look into listening to the audiobook instead!
That concludes my review for Sleeping Giants!
