Favourites of the Week: Aug 4th – 11th

Hey guys! So I’ve decided to start a new series on my blog called Favourites of the Week. This series will basically recap the things I loved the week prior.

This can include:

  • movies
  • books
  • people
  • memories
  • tv
  • makeup?
  • clothing

and everything in between!

I really wanted to start incorporating more things that aren’t just book reviews in my blog (don’t worry there will still be lots of those) and I thought this would be a great addition!

I hope you enjoy – comment down below if you like this idea or if it’s just a little too weird for my blog and I should not do it.

Twilight

This is a weird one.

This week I hit a reading slump AND had finals so I needed a pick me up. Therefore, I decided to do a full re-watch of Twilight – and let me just say – I loved it.

I was never obsessed with the Twilight universe or anything along those lines, but I understand the obsession with it. It’s a guilty pleasure.

The movies are so horrible – that they’re not horrible. I hated it but I loved hating it and could not stop watching it.

These movies helped me survive this week so they are one of my favs!

Crocs

I don’t know about you, but I am a huge fan of crocs.

Crocs make me so so happy – and they are so comfy.

This week, for all of my exams, I wore my trusty pink crocs – and guess what, I aced all of my tests. (New tradition anyone?)

I know a lot of people have problems with crocs, but I just don’t see why. They’re incredibly comfy, they’re great for when you go to the beach (easily washable), They come in 1 million different colors, and personally I really like the look.

So judge me all you want, but don’t hate it until you try it.

Sparkling lemonade

Last week I tried a new drink. It was called La Croix.

Personally I didn’t like it on its own, so I added the powder and lemonade mix to it. This made an amazing sparkling lemonade that I was obsessed with. Unfortunately La Croix only comes with like six cans in the box – so it didn’t last me very long.

When I went to the store to get my refill, I saw this other sparkling lemonade already made. Of course I bought it. It was just a generic store brand, so I’m sure you can find it in any grocery store you go to – but you need to try sparkling lemonade.

It is delicious.

(The one I bought was even diet sparkling lemonade and it still tastes amazing)

My nails

So being a nursing student, you’re not allowed to get any nail polish or acrylic nails. This is obviously because nail polish chips and acrylic nails are too sharp for gloves – but that doesn’t mean I don’t miss them.

Since my semesters ending, I get two weeks that I can have acrylic nails. So of course I jumped to the opportunity.

I got these long matte purpleish gray nails that I love. The only thing is – the length makes it so hard to type, and right after I got them I had 8 page essay to write. Smart, I know.

Despite that, I’m so glad I got them done. They look amazing, it’s fun to tap on stuff, they make a cool noise when they clink again stuff, and they give amazing head scratches.

My fan

Vancouver recently has been hell. It has been hot – non-stop.

Due to this incredible heat, I have been living next to a fan. This fan is my life. I would die without it.

That is all.

My blog

Obviously a favorite of mine every week, Is my blog.

I love writing in it, it has motivated me to read more, I’m always thinking of a new blog post, and I’ve met so many amazing people.

Despite only having it for a month, this blog has been such an incredible outlet.

I also like to add that I love my twitter as well.

So that concludes my first favourites post. I hope you enjoyed – and please let me know if you want me to continue this, or just stop while I’m ahead.

Thank you so much for reading, don’t forget to follow my blog as well as my other social media sites linked in the sidebar.

Until next time,

  1. It’s so positive to have a list of things you are grateful for every week! Even little things like Crocs and acrylic nails… all stuff we usually overlook. I LOVE it. I look forward to reading more of these!

  2. I tried La Croix before but it wasn’t for me either – at least not on its own. I love the sparkling lemonade by San Pellegrino I could drink that stuff non-stop. I still remember the excitement I felt while reading twilight the first time ever. My excitement has changed since then 🙂 but it was amazing the first time.

  3. Loved all of these. Although nursing is one of my future plans, I think I would really miss nail polish. I also agree with the horrible-ness of Twilight. It’s so horrible that you can’t help but love it!

  4. Oh I love the idea of this post! The idea of this post. The other day I saw someone do a favorites of the month which I thought sounded amazing. Something I might be trying out for the future to switch things up on my blog. Always trying to come up with new ideas.

  5. I just started drinking La Croix, but it comes in 12 packs here. 6 would go so fast! I used to hate sparking water–and still do for the most part, but La Croix is wonderful for unbearable hot days like Florida has been for me!

I like this addition to the blog though, if not for anyone else, it’s good to focus on what really makes you happy during the week!

    1. I’m loving adding things I love to a list during the week! It really makes me think of the positive instead of the negative which is nice!

I can only do sparkling water if there’s a dominant flavour in there, I’ve noticed that with La Croix the flavours are very muted, so in that case I need to add different flavouring

      1. Yeah, some are definitely very diluted and I can’t do those!

I’ve started taking the time to really focus on the positive, even if I can’t write them down, because the world is far too scary at the moment.

      2. That’s very true. It makes me slightly glad to be in Canada and away from the bulk of this negativity, but it’s still disgusting to see what’s happening in the world
